Louisiana Sales Tax Filing Changes Effective October 2025

Beginning with the October 2025 Sales Tax Return, the Louisiana Department of Revenue is rolling out the new Combined Sales Tax Return. Many of you may have already received correspondence regarding this change. We are excited about this update, as it will allow us to file all Louisiana jurisdictions on one consolidated return.

What You Need to Know:

  • Effective October 2025, all Louisiana jurisdictions must be filed monthly on the Louisiana Sales Tax Return.
  • If your jurisdiction filing frequencies are already set to monthly, no changes are needed in preparation for the consolidated return.
  • If your filing frequency in any jurisdiction is currently occasional, quarterly, or annual:
  • You must contact the jurisdiction office (by phone or email) to change your filing frequency to monthly.
  • You must also file a September 2025 return for these jurisdictions, reporting any unfiled sales for the year.

Please find instructions here for how to check your jurisdiction filing frequencies as well as how to look up the jurisdiction contact information on the Parish E-File website.

If HTB currently files your sales tax returns, we are already managing these updates on your behalf. As always, our CAAS team is here to answer questions and provide assistance as needed. Contact us today if you have any questions.
